Every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m., Peter Wein of Wellington invites some 20,000 radio listeners into his "living room."
On the Internet radio talk show on WRPBRadio.com that Wein has christened Peter's Livingroom, the animated host and managing member of My B Network discusses everything from entertainment to college campus life. The show has grown from 2,800 listeners in May to 20,000 today.
"Listeners' ages originally varied from mid-20s through mid-40s," said Wein, 58, a transplanted New Yorker. "Now, though, through targeted Internet marketing and promoting of certain guests, I hear that I'm picking up a lot of college-age kids, too."
Wein said he got the idea after meeting the owner of WRPBradio in 2007. Because My B Network helps small businesses with affordable marketing and promoting, he felt there was a synergy between their companies.
"After talking with the station, I realized this was the final piece to my puzzle," he said. "With radio, I could offer my members not only Internet and print outlets but also affordable radio. After researching the expected growth of Internet radio, I worked out an agreement with WRPB."
One of Wein's favorite topics to discuss is area charities, as well as individuals and businesses that give their time and money to a cause.
"My overall passion has always been the protection of the quality of life we have in our neighborhoods," he said. "This is a way the public can learn which businesses give back to the community that they [get] their income from."
He also gets fired up discussing the arts and the "drastic mistake" that cutting program funding has turned out to be.
